Enoch Eshun, a Student at the University of Cape Coast, who cannot sit and has been standing for five years, has shared his story.
He shared his heartfelt story with ZionFelix in a recent interview.
Eshun, a level 100 student at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), revealed he was diagnosed with Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) at the age of two.
Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is a genetic condition where people are born with bunions and their body’s muscle tissue and connective tissues, like tendons and ligaments, turn into bone on the outside of their skeleton. This condition restricts movement and can cause a loss of mobility over time in people diagnosed with the condition. Symptoms of FOP appear during childhood and usually begin at the neck and shoulders before moving to other areas of the body, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
After medicines from the hospital did not help, Enoch Eshun said his father resorted to traditional medicines which worsened the situation.

He recalled they visited fetish priests and pastors with the aim of getting a cure but none of them helped.
For about five years now, Eshun, who was beaming with smiles throughout the interview, divulged he has been standing and cannot sit.
According to him, his latest predicament of not being able to sit occurred after a rickshaw (pragyia) he was in hit a pothole which affected his waist.
Enoch Eshun disclosed that he can only lie down through the help of others—and further opened up about how he travels using only taxies.
For now, medical experts are yet to unravel how this condition can be cured.
