Entertainment pundit and artiste manager, Bullgod

Entertainment pundit and artiste manager, Bullgod, has revealed that his legal team is pursuing payment of legal fees from dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, following a defamation case that was settled out of court.

The issue dates back to November 2022 when Shatta Wale accused Bullgod of having a hand in the death of Fennec Okyere, former manager of rapper Kwaw Kese.

The allegation, made publicly by Shatta Wale, sparked outrage and led Bullgod to file a defamation suit at the Accra High Court.

In the suit, Bullgod argued that Shatta Wale’s claims were false, injurious to his reputation and also insensitive, considering the murder case was still under investigation.

He sought legal redress and demanded the court declare the statements defamatory and malicious.

However, following interventions from key figures in the entertainment industry, both parties agreed to settle the matter outside of court.

As part of the settlement, Shatta Wale was to issue a formal apology and cover Bullgod’s legal expenses, which amounted to GH¢100,000.

Three years after the initial incident, Shatta Wale on April 30, 2025, wrote an official letter to apologise to Bullgod.

Bullgod reacting to the apology in an interview on JoyNews on May 2, 2025, he expressed appreciation for his legal team’s role in resolving the matter amicably.

He confirmed that although the apology has been received, the agreed legal fees have not yet been paid, and his lawyers are currently handling the matter.

“The original suit was a million Ghana cedis. When Shatta’s legal team came to say that they want to settle this out of court, I said I was looking for an apology and settlement of legal fees.

“So, the money involved in this matter was for my legal fees because you will not defame me for me to go and pay my own legal fees. If I am taking it out of court, at least the decent thing to do is to pay the legal fees which is supposed to be GH¢100,000 that will go to my lawyers,” Bullgod stated.
