Sam George's handling of the matter has courted an advice from Nana Romeo (R) Sam George’s handling of the matter has courted an advice from Nana Romeo (R)

Popular radio broadcaster and entertainment pundit, Nana Romeo, has once again called on the Minister of Communication, Digital Technologies, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, to ease off his back-and-forths with pay-TV giant DStv, arguing that the legislator’s fight with the company is unnecessary.

Speaking on his radio show on October 2, 2025, Nana Romeo praised Sam George for being hard-working but cautioned him against what he described as ‘popularity-driven battles.’

“I like Sam George because he has shown himself to be hard-working, but the fight with DStv was not necessary. They are not forcing anyone to buy their products, so forcing them to reduce prices is not needed,” he said.

According to him, the MP should channel his energy into more pressing national issues.

“There is a lot of work for you to do. Fighting DStv is not necessary. There are still better things to fight for.

“Up till now, the telcos’ network connectivity is still very bad. We have a national television station which cannot broadcast national matches,” he stressed.

‘DSTV is not a priority, focus on LGBT issues’ – Nana Romeo to Sam George

Nana Romeo further pointed out that several ministers are working diligently behind the scenes without seeking media attention.

“Minister of Education Haruna Iddirisu is working; Minister of Foreign Affairs Okudzeto Ablakwa is also working. But because they do not go around with camera crews and bloggers, you may think nothing is going on,” he added.

He cautioned Sam George against seeking unnecessary limelight at the expense of governance.

“Too much popularity will bring problems. Do your work as an honourable minister. Don’t work with the mindset that you want to be in the limelight, or else you will fail. Don’t bring problems for the president,” Nana Romeo advised.

Meanwhile, Multichoice Ghana has clarified the misunderstanding over its value offerings, which were announced by the minister on September 29.

The company stated that its FAQ document contained some errors and that the value offerings were not a promotion as they had earlier indicated.
