The suspect threatened to release intimate images of a woman

The Adabraka District Court has remanded social media personality Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, into police custody as the Ghana Police Service investigates fresh allegations of sextortion against him.

The court presided over by Magistrate, Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo, ordered Ekow Black’s remand and adjourned the case to January 21, 2026, to enable Police to continue investigations.

In a statement issued on Sunday, January 18, the Police said the investigations had expanded to cover new claims that the suspect threatened to release intimate images of a woman, a conduct the Police described as sextortion.

The Police said the fresh allegations emerged during ongoing investigations into an earlier matter involving a viral video in which the suspect was allegedly seen assaulting the same woman.

That earlier incident, which circulated widely on social media, led to public outrage and resulted in the arrest of the suspect on Thursday, January 15, following an intelligence-led operation by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team.

Preliminary investigations, according to the Police, suggest that the suspect and the complainant were in a strained personal relationship characterised by frequent disputes.

The Police have not provided details on the specific charges yet to be preferred but said investigations into the alleged sextortion were ongoing.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to pursuing cases of violence and online exploitation, regardless of the public profile of the persons involved.
