Ghanaian media personality NY DJ, who works with YFM in Kumasi, has raised concerns about the possibility of Sarkodie’s Rapperholic Homecoming Concert not returning to the Ashanti Regional capital following the challenges that confronted the organisers during the 2026 edition.

Speaking on his show on Friday, October 30, 2026, while reviewing the concert and some of the incidents that occurred before, during and after the event, NY DJ suggested that if the show does not return to Kumasi in subsequent years, patrons should blame the handlers of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

According to the presenter, Events Factory, the team responsible for organising the concert, reportedly paid a whopping GH¢400,000 to secure the stadium for the event.

However, despite making such a huge financial commitment, the organisers allegedly encountered several frustrations from the people managing the facility while preparing to stage the concert.

NY DJ explained that the team was subjected to various restrictions and difficulties during the setup process, making it challenging for them to put together the kind of production they had envisioned to give patrons a memorable experience.

He suggested that the treatment meted out to the organisers could discourage them from considering the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for another edition of Rapperholic, despite the huge interest the concert generated among music lovers in Kumasi.

During the discussion, one of NY DJ’s panel members also highlighted the challenges involving security personnel stationed at the entrance designated for VIP ticket holders.

The panel member alleged that the security officers handled the situation poorly, contributing to some of the difficulties patrons encountered while trying to access the venue.

He further alleged that one of the security officers locked the gate and indicated that only vehicles would be allowed to pass through that particular entrance.

The decision reportedly contributed to the confusion at the gate and the subsequent pepper spray incident that became one of the talking points after the concert.

Meanwhile, the leader of Sarkodie’s Sarkcess Fans, Fada Sarkcess Richie, has also weighed in on the stadium management controversy, questioning the restrictions allegedly imposed on the production team despite the substantial amount reportedly paid to use the facility.

Reacting to a netizen who appeared to suggest that the GH¢400,000 payment was reasonable, Richie expressed disappointment with people who, in his view, were defending the stadium management without first finding out what the organisers went through.

In a strongly worded response, he wrote:

“Some of you won’t ask of details or more information about something but will jump on to type anything to defend your pay masters. Do you know what we went through in the hands of the woman in charge of the stadium and why we even have to dissolve some part of the STAGE even after mounting, all in the name of she doesn’t want any of the stage to enter the pitch though we were using PITCH COVER. ‘DISSOLVE IT OR NO SHOW’.

“To even on light for us to work koraa was a problem and you sit at your comfort zone to type all these to post and add your photo too. SMH 🤦”

These revelations come days after the organisers publicly apologised to patrons who experienced difficulties redeeming their tickets and accessing the stadium.

Events Factory’s Project Coordinator, Ethan Lawrence, acknowledged that communication surrounding the wristband collection arrangements was inadequate, resulting in confusion among some ticket holders.

Rapperholic Homecoming 2026, which took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 24, attracted considerable attention, with Sarkodie later claiming that more than 55,000 people attended the event.
