German-based Ghanaian Highlife star, Kofi Eiphos, has issued a scathing rebuke to Ghana’s two major political parties, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), over the devastating crisis of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

Growing national sentiment of frustration among Ghanaians who feel that the fight against galamsey is routinely sacrificed for political gain, with successive governments making promises but failing to enforce lasting solutions.

Kofi Eiphos is out with a single dubbed ‘Galamsey’. The song, which features Dante Thompson, serves as a puissant piece of musical activism, directly confronting the catastrophic impact of illegal mining on Ghana’s environment.

Kofi Eiphos stated that the track is intended to accentuate how the galamsey menace is destroying the nation’s ecosystems, including its forests, farmlands, and vital water systems.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hot 93.9FM‘s Hot Showbiz, the Highlife star articulated his frustration with the political class.

In a direct and unequivocal statement, the Germany-based Ghanaian Highlife star demanded that both NDC and NPP “bow their heads in shame” for their collective failure to curb the menace that is destroying the country’s natural resources.

“Galamsey is destroying the country, and these parties are just politicising it… Why should we play politics with galamsey? It is bad.”

Known in real life as Isaac Oteng, Kofi Eiphos, who is known for the hit song ‘DJ 50,50’, quickly escalated his criticism by asserting that the parties’ inability to tackle the issue demonstrates a fundamental lack of fitness to govern.

“Both NPP and NDC should bow their heads in shame..They have failed the country. If they can’t solve this menace, then they have no business running the country.” He said
