Medeama SC delivered a ruthless performance as they thrashed Asante Kotoko 4-0 in a one-sided Ghana Premier League matchday 29 encounter at the TnA Stadium on Sunday.

The home side were clinical from start to finish, completely dominating the Porcupine Warriors and moving back to the summit of the league table with 53 points.

The Mauve and Yellows took the lead in the 14th minute when Manuel Mantey’s shot took a deflection and flew into the net.

They doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark when Kelvin Obeng rose highest to power home a header from a Fuzy Taylor free-kick.

Just four minutes later, Obeng turned provider, delivering a perfect cross to the far post where Salim Adams tapped in to make it 3-0 before the break before adding another into recess to seal the victory.

The result sees Medeama SC return to the top of the Ghana Premier League standings with 53 points. They will now turn their attention to the MTN FA Cup semi-final against Dreams FC on Saturday, April 18.

Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, suffered a heavy defeat that has extended their winless run. The Porcupine Warriors will look to bounce back when they face Hohoe United in their next league fixture.

Medeama’s dominant display sends a strong message to the rest of the league as the title race intensifies.
