Kassim Mingle, head coach of Nations FC, has thrown down the gauntlet in the Ghana Premier League title race, declaring his side’s unshakable ambition following a statement 3-0 win over defending champions FC Samartex 1996.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Mingle made a pointed comparison to his previous club, Bechem United, suggesting a lack of ambition stifled their potential.

“I worked at Bechem, and we came close several times, but they were not really interested in winning the league,” he said.

However, the ambition at Nations, according to Mingle, is different and, as such will make sure he delivers.

“Here at Nations, the ambition is clear: they want the title, and I’m prepared to deliver,” he added.

The win over Samartex, played in front of a buzzing home crowd on Sunday, May 25, 2025, lifted Nations FC three points clear at the top of the table with just two matches left to play.

But Mingle has cautioned against getting comfortable with their situation.

“We will not allow complacency to creep into our team. We will stay focused and push until the last game to prove we are truly champions,” he further stated.

The victory pushed Nations FC to 60 points, three ahead of their nearest challengers, Bibiani Gold Stars FC, putting the club in pole position to clinch their first-ever Ghana Premier League title.

Mingle, however, is not allowing the euphoria to derail the mission.

“The race is still open. We’re taking it one game at a time, first against Basake, then Heart of Lions,” he cautioned.

Nations FC will travel to face Basake Holy Stars in Matchday 33 before concluding their campaign at home against Heart of Lions.

With everything still to play for, the club’s discipline, hunger, and clarity of purpose, so powerfully voiced by their coach, could be the difference between coming close and becoming champions.
