Asante Kotoko have officially presented the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup trophy to the life patron of the club, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The presentation ceremony, held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, followed the Porcupine Warriors’ hard-fought 2-1 victory over Golden Kick FC in Sunday’s FA Cup final at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Kwame Opoku opened the scoring early for Kotoko, but the Division One side equalised through a stunning free-kick from Bless Ege, sending both sides into the break level.
In a dramatic conclusion to the match, Kotoko were awarded a controversial late penalty, which Opoku calmly converted to hand coach Karim Zito’s side their 10th FA Cup title.
After returning to Kumasi on Monday, June 16, 2025, Kotoko’s delegation visited the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to pay homage and present the trophy to Otumfuo, who has been a longstanding spiritual and moral pillar for the club.
The delegation was led by Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, with key figures including Technical Director Kwesi Appiah and club legend Malik Jabir also in attendance.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II praised the team for their resilience and dedication throughout the competition and lauded their composure in the final.
He also used the occasion to encourage the players and management to build on this success and aim for a strong showing in continental competition next season.
