Ghanaian media personality MzGee has taken a strong swipe at social media users who hide behind anonymous or ghost accounts to spew insults and negativity online.
Speaking during a passionate monologue on her Gee Oβclock show, the broadcaster questioned the courage of trolls who lack the guts to confront people with their real identities.
βIf you’re bold enough to go and insult people, come with your real face. Letβs see who weβre dealing with,β she stated. βWhy do you go and create ghost accounts to talk trash? Meβwho am I in the scheme of affairsβthat youβd create a whole ghost account just to come and insult me?β
MzGee described the trend as both cowardly and toxic, highlighting how these faceless accounts often embolden others to join in online harassment.
She noted that many of these accounts bear fake names, untraceable handles, or cartoonish avatarsβmaking it impossible to engage meaningfully or even determine the mental state of the people behind them.
βYou canβt even tell whether youβre dealing with a brainy person or an idiot. And yet they want to dictate how you should behave on your own page,β she added.
The broadcasterβs remarks speak to a broader conversation around cyberbullying and the lack of accountability on social media.
While some fans encouraged her to ignore such comments and βbe the bigger person,β MzGee insisted that trolls should not be allowed to operate unchecked. She urged critics to own their comments and identities if they truly believe in what they post.
βIf you want to do drama, letβs do drama face-to-face. Donβt hide. If youβre going to be disrespectful, be bold enough to come with your real name and picture.β
Her comments come after she was attacked on social media for sharing a video of herself in a joyous mood.
