The Head of Player Relations at the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Yusif Chibsah, has voiced his unease over the timing of Albert Amoah’s switch to Libyan outfit Al Ahli Benghazi.

Amoah completed the move just days after Asante Kotoko’s heavy 5–1 loss to Wydad Athletic Club in the return leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie. This development surprised many within the local football community.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Chibsah, a former Black Stars midfielder, stressed that several Ghanaian players opt for transfers to North African clubs at a stage that does little to aid their growth.

“Most players who move to North Africa do so at the wrong time, and that is why they struggle. I wish Albert Amoah well, but it will be difficult,” he said.

Amoah, who signed for Kotoko from Great Olympics last season, quickly became one of the club’s most influential figures. He registered 16 goals in 30 appearances and proved a consistent attacking threat for the Porcupine Warriors.

His impact extended to continental action, netting twice in four matches during the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary rounds before Kotoko’s campaign came to an early end.
