Dan Kweku Yeboah (L) says Otumfuo could have settled Lumba's family dispute quietly Dan Kweku Yeboah (L) says Otumfuo could have settled Lumba’s family dispute quietly

On the legal tussle over the late Daddy Lumba’s death, media personality Dan Kweku Yeboah has said Akosua Serwaa’s decision to take the matter to court instead of seeking Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s intervention was a wrong decision.

Speaking on Peace FM on November 3, 2025, Dan Kweku Yeboah said he believed Akosua Serwaa’s decision to resort to the courts was not the best approach, especially considering the authority Otumfuo commands in Asanteman.

According to him, issues of such nature could have been addressed quietly if presented before the Asantehene.

No matter what, an autopsy would be conducted on late Lumba – Ernestina Brempongmaa

He explained that once the matter entered the court system, it automatically became public, allowing bloggers, media outlets, and the general public to discuss and speculate about the case.

Dan Kweku Yeboah added that Akosua Serwaa has respected figures in her circle who could have easily helped her seek a traditional resolution.

He mentioned business moguls like Kenpong and Osei Kwame Despite as individuals who could have facilitated her access to Otumfuo.

“Whoever advised Akosua Serwaa to take the case to court didn’t do well at all. I don’t know of any issue that could happen in Asanteman that Otumfuo cannot solve. The best thing Akosua Serwaa could have done was to go to Otumfuo; it would have been resolved quietly without anyone hearing about it.

“I think Akosua should have sought an elderly person to go with her to Otumfuo to address the issue. She has Kenpong and Kwame Despite in her corner, and these are people who could have easily given her access to Otumfuo,” Dan Kweku Yeboah said.

He also pointed out that Daddy Lumba, during his lifetime, often sang about his desire for peace and calm, even after his death.

Unfortunately, Kweku Yeboah noted that the current legal tussle has made the late musician’s name a subject of public debate, something that contradicts the kind of legacy Lumba wanted to leave behind.

Akosua Serwaa, wife of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has filed a lawsuit against Kofi Owusu, the head of the late musician’s external family, and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as “Odo Broni.”

In her writ filed at the Kumasi High Court, Akosua Serwaa is seeking several declarations, including official recognition as the only surviving spouse of the late musician and the sole person entitled to perform widowhood rites at his funeral.

Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025. His external family has announced plans to hold his final funeral rites on December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
