Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Akwaboah, has shed light on what he sees as a troubling trend on social media: the silent jealousy that often lurks behind friendly faces.

In a message shared via his social platforms, Akwaboah highlighted the subtle ways envy manifests online, especially among peers. He lamented that while many people scroll past celebratory posts or achievements from their own friends, they seem far more eager to engage with negative content.

The ‘Matters of the Heart’ composer stated that social media has become a space where support is selective and often overshadowed by silent competition or resentment.

“Jealousy on social media is real. Your own friends will scroll past your progress! Yet they will screenshot the insults from masses and send you,” he wrote.

Akwaboah’s observation reminds us about how public platforms, which once promised community and connection, can sometimes become mirrors reflecting envy more than encouragement.
