Liam Payne‘s grief-stricken sister has paid a heartbreaking tribute to the One Direction star saying he ‘lived for making people smile’.

Nicola Payne revealed in a tearjerking post on Instagram that she found out that her sibling had died in a hotel balcony fall in Argentina when it popped up on her phone.

She said she ‘went cold’ when she saw the news and had spent the last few days hoping it was a mistake as she struggles to come to terms with Liam’s tragic death.

Nicola shared family snaps as well as Liam on stage with 1D alongside an emotional tribute as she said: ‘You were truly too for this earth, you are an angel who just lived for making people smile and happy.’

The 36-year-old told how she had been looking back at his excited messages from the bight before his niece was born.

This is a breaking news story. More to follow.
