Ghanaian sprinter William Opare delivered a sensational performance at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, setting a new national record in the men’s 400 meters.

The young athlete clocked an impressive 45.67 seconds, breaking his own Ghana national record while also registering a new personal best in the event.

Opare, a freshman representing Angelo State University, rose to the occasion on the championship stage with a composed and powerful run that underlined his growing reputation as one of Ghana’s promising quarter-milers.

The remarkable time not only secured a national milestone but also highlighted the rapid progress the athlete has made in his first season competing at the collegiate level in the United States.

His performance drew attention as one of the standout moments of the championship, demonstrating both his speed and ability to perform under pressure.

The record-breaking run further strengthens Ghana’s presence in collegiate athletics and signals a bright future for the rising star as he continues his development on the international stage.
