    • Taxi company collapsed in Sydney
    • Drivers received a letter on Friday

A taxi company has collapsed after operating for more than 70 years.

Manly Warringah Cabs, known as Manly Cabs, ordered its fleet to stop operating, leaving customers stranded and drivers out of work.

CRS Insolvency Services Australia sent a letter on Friday to break the bad news.

‘Unfortunately the operations of the Co-Op have been closed with immediate effect from Friday, 13 March 2026,’ it read.

‘As a result … all drivers and operators will be required to immediately remove their cars from the road.’

CRS administrator Trevor Pogroske also left a note on Manly Cabs’ office door in Brookvale.

“We regret delivering this news as we know it will cause hardship to many people and organisations,” it read.

Customers were initially left stranded, but Ingogo moved quickly to help, taking on a large portion of the former Manly Cabs taxis and setting up a special hotline to ensure taxi services continue across the Northern Beaches.

‘First and foremost, we’ve got a home for you,’ Ingogo CEO Lee Furlong said.

‘Give us a call, and we’ll have you on the road as quickly as we can.’

Since the pandemic, Manly Cabs has operated around 40 taxis, down from 130.

Many of the drivers have joined Ingogo, but not everyone was so fortunate, with some now scrambling to find new work.

Mr Furlong, who previously managed the Northern Beaches company and served aas the NSW Taxi Council chairman, called the shutdown a ‘very sad end’ on 2GB radio.

‘Seventy plus years — Manly Cabs are iconic on the Northern Beaches. Everybody knows the red sea eagle on the bonnet,’ he said.

‘For the old girl to go out like that so suddenly was just gut-wrenching.’
