Nottingham Forest have parted ways with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo with immediate effect.

The decision comes following a breakdown in Nuno’s relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis and global head of football Edu Gaspar.

The 51-year-old took charge of Forest in December 2023 after the dismissal of Steve Cooper and helped to save their top-flight status.

He also led Forest to a remarkable seventh-place finish last season, securing Europa League qualification, their first European campaign in three decades.

Despite the club’s success on the pitch during Nuno’s time as manager, his public criticism of the club’s transfer strategy, including a £196m summer spend that he deemed inadequate, and a strained dynamic with Edu, sparked irreparable tensions that led owner Marinakis to act swiftly during the international break.

Forest’s hierarchy has already begun the search for a successor, with former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou emerging as a leading candidate alongside other top names.
