Veteran Nigerian actor, Pete Edochie

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has weighed in on the complexities of modern relationships, offering candid insights during a recent interview.

Reflecting on contemporary marital dynamics and touching on his son Yul Edochie’s decision to take a second wife, Pete shared a mix of concern and wisdom.

The celebrated actor lamented the dwindling longevity of marriages in today’s society, stating that unions lasting over a decade have become increasingly rare.

“It’s troubling to see how quickly marriages fall apart these days,” Pete said, emphasising that enduring love has been overshadowed by fleeting, superficial connections.

Addressing the subject of polygamy, Pete didn’t hold back in questioning the logic behind men seeking multiple wives.

“What do you gain from having another wife that you can’t get from the one you already have?” he asked.

He further quizzed, “The excitement you feel in intimacy is not about the other person—it comes from you, the man. So why the need for another partner?”

These statements come in the wake of the controversy surrounding his son, Yul Edochie’s recent marriage to a second wife, which has sparked widespread debate on social media.

While Pete did not directly criticise his son, his comments seem to advocate for commitment and stability within marriage.
