Graham Potter has been sacked by West Ham

West Ham have parted ways with Graham Potter after just nine months in charge, with the club second-bottom of the Premier League. Potter, who replaced Julen Lopetegui on a two-and-a-half-year contract in January, was unable to turn around the team’s fortunes at the London stadium.

A club statement on Saturday, September 27, 2025, morning, two days before their trip to Everton, read:

“West Ham United can confirm that head coach Graham Potter has left the club. Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the board of directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.”

West Ham are set to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as Potter’s successor. Sources say there is confidence on both sides that a deal can be finalised in time for Nuno to take charge against Everton on Monday Night Football.

Sky Sports News reports that the Portuguese coach is expected to take training with the squad on Saturday afternoon.

The Hammers hope the managerial change can provide the spark needed to climb out of the relegation zone and stabilize their Premier League campaign.
