Rio Ferdinand couldn’t hide his reaction after witnessing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia score a breathtaking goal against Aston Villa. The Georgian star lit up the game with a moment of pure magic — and Ferdinand’s response said it all.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) cruised to a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League at the Parc des Princes.

Morgan Rogers gave the visitors a surprise lead against the run of play in the first half, but PSG responded with stunning strikes from wingers Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on either side of the break.

With minutes left on the clock, Nuno Mendes scored to seal the 3-1 win for PSG. Though all of PSG’s goals were impressive, it was Kvaratskhelia’s strike that truly stole the spotlight.

Picking up the ball just beyond the halfway line, the Georgian winger exploded down the left flank, leaving Villa defenders in his wake.

With dazzling footwork and incredible close control, he weaved past Axel Disasi, shifted effortlessly onto his left foot, and unleashed a thunderous strike that gave Emiliano Martinez no chance in goal.

The goal drew an incredible reaction from former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, who was on commentary duty. The former England international was in awe of Kvaratskhelia’s brilliance, shouting in excitement and celebrating alongside his co-commentators, who clapped in appreciation of the wonder goal.
