Former Brong Ahafo Football Association Chairman, Ralph Gyambrah, has launched a strong criticism of player recruitment into Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, questioning the quality and direction of recent call-ups.

Speaking in an interview on Connect 97.1FM, Gyambrah expressed concern that the national team is gradually losing its identity due to what he described as questionable selection decisions. He argued that the Black Stars risk becoming “a dumping ground for players from nowhere,” raising doubts over whether selections are based on merit or influenced by emotions and external factors.

His comments come at a time when the team is facing mounting criticism following a series of inconsistent performances, with fans increasingly dissatisfied with the squad’s output and composition.

Gyambrah’s remarks appear to target systemic issues rather than individual players, pointing to concerns about scouting, player development, and the absence of a clear selection framework. He stressed that for a nation with Ghana’s rich football pedigree, the national team must consistently reflect the highest standards of quality and discipline.

The comments have reignited debate over the role of the Ghana Football Association in ensuring transparency and maintaining the integrity of the Black Stars.
