The final funeral rites of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba, is currently underway at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60, has been at the centre of a prolonged and emotionally charged family dispute over who holds the authority to lead and finance his burial arrangements.
The disagreement sparked a series of legal battles that threatened to derail the much-anticipated farewell for the music icon.
Despite the tension and legal wrangling, the Accra High Court on Friday, December 12, 2025, cleared the way for the funeral to proceed as scheduled on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
The ruling followed an earlier directive by the court ordering the applicants seeking to halt the funeral to deposit a GH¢2 million security by 2:00 p.m. on the same day or risk having the ceremony go ahead.
In its reasoning, the court acknowledged the concerns raised by the applicants, who are members of the late musician’s maternal family.
However, the judge stressed that granting an injunction at such a late stage would come with serious financial consequences and could unfairly burden the respondents who had already made extensive preparations for the burial.
