Akosua Agyapong (L) and Yaa Jackson(R)

Veteran highlife musician Akosua Agyapong has offered words of advice and a subtle critique to rising artiste Yaa Jackson, who has named her as a role model.

During an interview on Okay FM with host Nana Romeo, where they discussed the youth’s renewed interest in highlife music, Agyapong expressed gratitude for the admiration but offered some words of advice to the younger artiste.

“What I can advise is that she should relax and be herself; she shouldn’t be pressured by anyone or go out of her way to impress anyone,” the highlife legend stated.

However, she added a condition to the mentorship, suggesting that if Jackson truly sees her as an inspiration, it should extend to all areas of her persona, specifically her style of dressing.

“She should also embody my behaviour, my style of fashion and how she dresses and the way I talk and all that,” Agyapong said.

Pointing out her status in the industry, Agyapong noted, “I have gotten to the point that schools use me and my music to teach their students.”

She further reiterated her advice to Yaa Jackson, stating that it would be more likely for both of them to appear in a music video together if she changed her style.

“She and I would collaborate on a song together. So, if we are in a music video together, we would both look good.”
