African giants Senegal thrashed England 3-1 in an international friendly match on June 11, 2025.
In the early minutes of the game, The Three Lions controlled the match and kept pressing their opponents which helped them create a decent chance where Antony Gordon’s shot was spilled by Mendy and Kane swiftly pounced on it to score.
Senegal organised themselves and came back into the game quickly with Ismaila Sarr placing the ball into the net for the equalizer.
The Teranga Lions continued their dominance as Habib Diarra nicely finessed the ball past the English goalkeeper to take the lead.
The English team created numerous chances in their search for the equaliser but were unsuccessful as Mendy made crucial saves to keep them alive.
Bellingham’s goal was ruled out after the VAR review showed there was a handball leading to the goal.
Cheikh Sabaly scored the last goal to cement their 3-1 commanding victory over The Three Lions.
That Senegal made history as the first African team ever to have defeated England in a match is incorrect though since other African teams might have beaten England before; consider rephrasing to – Senegal secured a historic 3-1 win over England.
