Ghanaian forward Ernest Nuamah scored his first league goal of the 2024/25 season in Lyon’s 1-1 draw against Nantes.
Nuamah brushed off transfer speculation and delivered an outstanding performance in his first start in five games.
With Lyon pushing for European qualification, a victory would have been a significant boost. That hope looked promising when Nuamah struck in the 10th minute. Nicolas Tagliafico found the young forward unmarked in the box, and Nuamah confidently slotted the ball into the bottom-right corner to give Les Gones a 1-0 lead.
However, Nuamah’s goal proved insufficient to secure all three points. Lyon’s hopes were dashed in the 90th minute when Mostafa Mohamed powered a header into the bottom-right corner, earning Nantes a dramatic equalizer.
The draw leaves Lyon in 6th place with 30 points from 19 games.
For Nuamah, it was a standout day. He not only scored but also delivered two key passes, created one big chance, recorded 61 touches, and achieved an impressive 90% passing accuracy.
This marks his second goal for Lyon in 21 appearances across all competitions this season, where he has also registered one assist.
