Ghanaian dancehall and Afrobeats star, Stonebwoy, has spoken about the long-running family and business dispute involving Nigerian music duo PSquare, throwing his support behind Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P.

Stonebwoy, who says he became particularly close to Mr P during the period when tensions within the Okoye family were unfolding, revealed that his relationship with the Nigerian singer gave him insight into some of the issues that later became public.

According to Stonebwoy, although he only heard Mr P’s side of the story, he believed the singer because of the closeness they had developed and what he personally observed during that period.

“When I got closer to Peter within the period, I got to know everything going on. He saw me as an insider and even hearing it from one side, I believed him for what he is going through,” Stonebwoy said.

The Ghanaian musician described the situation as more than an ordinary celebrity disagreement, stressing that betrayal within a family can be particularly painful.

He suggested that there is a limit to how much emotional pain a person can silently endure, especially when the conflict involves people who are supposed to be closest to them.

“It is just so much that you can take and I am happy for what he is doing. If you are a real human being, you feel betrayal and it gets to a point,” he added.

Stonebwoy also disclosed that his song “Blood Don’t Make Family” was inspired by Peter Okoye’s experience with his brothers and the painful circumstances surrounding the breakdown of PSquare.

The revelation adds a personal dimension to the song, which addresses the complex nature of family relationships and the idea that biological ties do not always guarantee loyalty or peace.

Stonebwoy said he was pleased with Mr P’s decision to speak publicly about his experiences, particularly because he believed the singer had spent a considerable amount of time protecting his brothers despite their differences.

The Ghanaian star recalled sending Peter a message after the singer began openly discussing the issues within the family.

According to Stonebwoy, he told Mr P that he was happy people were beginning to see him for who he truly was.

He further praised the Nigerian singer for what he described as his “purity of heart,” particularly his decision to continue protecting his brothers despite the prolonged conflict.
