Popular Ghanaian actress and producer Xandy Kamel has opened up about the high cost of her latest film production “Unseen Beauty” and the events that led to the recent arrest of the CEO of Fast TV, Obed Mawuli MiFutsu, over copyright infringement.

In an exclusive interview with Original K P of Zionfelix TV, the outspoken actress was asked about the budget for the movie at the centre of the controversy.

Xandy admitted she didn’t find it necessary to always disclose her financial commitments publicly. However, under pressure from the host, she revealed that the pre-production, post-production, and travel expenses, including flights for herself and the film’s editor, pushed the cost of the movie slightly over $15,000.

Xandy also emphasized that her actions were not just about the illegal airing of her work. According to her, what deeply provoked her was the attitude and disrespect she faced from the Fast TV boss when she approached him to discuss the issue amicably.

She noted that such dismissive behaviour toward content creators must not be tolerated and said her action was meant to set an example and protect other Ghanaian filmmakers from exploitation.
