Fred Amugi turned 77 on November 5, 2025

Ghanaian film icon Fred Amugi has celebrated his 77th birthday with a poignant message of renewal and cultural identity.

Posting on his Facebook page on November 5, 2025, Amugi wrote that turning 77 signified more than just age, but a rebirth.

“Today I turn 77 years, AND I’M BEING REBORN! At 77, the Bible’s seventy-seven isn’t just forgiveness—it’s total renewal. Like a phoenix, I’m shedding the old & rising in double mercy, double strength, and double purpose,” he wrote.

He shared a series of pictures in which he appeared in a black short-sleeved shirt with white piping, black trousers, and adorned with a garland made of green leaves and white cloth.

These adornments, known in Ga culture as ‘Nyanyra’ and ‘Klala,’ showed his deep respect for Ghanaian traditions.

Amugi also announced plans to commemorate his milestone birthday by giving back: he will spend Saturday, November 8, 2025, with orphans from the Potter’s Village Home.

The veteran actor, whose career spans decades, includes major roles in films like Beasts of No Nation and The Cursed Ones.
