Two people have been shot dead and at least 14 others injured, including children, after a mass shooting in Alabama

The incident unfolded at 11:30pm on Saturday evening in the city of Montgomery, after a football game between Tuskegee University and Morehouse College.

According to Montgomery police Chief James Graboys, the shooting unfolded near the intersection of Bibb and Commerce streets.

He said that shots were let off after a brawl between two rival groups in the downtown area.

Graboys told reporters: ‘This was two parties involved that were basically shooting at each other in the middle of a crowd.

‘They did not care about the people around them when they did it. We will do everything we need to gather every bit of evidence to chase down whoever is involved.’

An adult woman was amongst those killed and two juveniles were injured in the shooting, one of them suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

Cops confirmed that three victims are in a life threatening condition, and nine suffered non-life threatening injuries during the shooting.

The identities of those shot or the suspects have yet to be released by officials.

‘Detectives are actively pursuing leads and reviewing evidence, including witness statements and surveillance footage.

‘We are urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward. Even the smallest detail could be critical to helping investigators identify those responsible.’

It comes after two children were shot and killed while two others were injured after an early morning shooting in Texas on Saturday.

According to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, two kids aged 13 and 4 were fatally shot, with two others aged 8 and 9 transported away by an air ambulance in a critical condition.

Investigators said that an adult woman has since been taken into custody, her relationship to the children remains unclear at this time.
