Japanese super welter champ Ryota Toyoshima (22-3-1, 12 KOs), 153.5, acquired the vacant WBO Asia belt when he lopsidedly battered JBC#3 Rikuto Adachi (19-5-1, 14 KOs), 153.75, to win a unanimous decision (98-92 twice, 100-98) over ten hot rounds on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan. Toyoshima, three years his senior at 30, took the initiative from the start, steadily piled up points with his constant aggression and withstood Adachi’s last surge with his solid retaliation down the stretch. Toyoshima’s national belt was also at stake and he retained his title with ease.
