Tinny (L) and Jupitar (R) are Ghanaian musicians

Renowned Ghanaian musician, Nii Addo Quaynor, popularly known as Tinny, and dancehall artiste, Jupitar, are billed to headline the much-anticipated Ashongman Homowo Festival concert.

The event, which will take place at the Old Ashongman Last-Stop on Saturday, August 23, 2025, will be part of a wider slate of activities making up the annual celebration.

Among the activities, residents are expected to gather at the Ashongman Park for a football gala, a tradition that has long brought the community together ahead of the evening’s entertainment.

Songs that depend on dance challenges don’t last – Tinny

Tinny, known for his Ga lyricism and pioneering role in Hiplife, is expected to deliver a performance that captures the cultural heartbeat of the festival.

Also, musician Jupitar, on the other hand, will bring a strong dancehall following, promising high-energy performances that will keep the crowd engaged deep into the night.

They will be joined by Jah Gun and Kofi Tafari, who will ensure a mix of sounds that reflects both the contemporary and traditional spirit of the festival.

Background on Homowo

Homowo, which translates as “hooting at hunger,” is the most important traditional festival of the Ga people.

It commemorates a historic famine that struck the GaDangme during their migration and the subsequent bumper harvest that followed after prayers and resilience.

‘Is it by force to help any upcoming artiste?’ – Tinny responds to critics

The sprinkling of Kpokpoi, a cornmeal dish prepared with palm oil, serves as thanksgiving for abundance and a plea for continued prosperity.
