Former Black Stars assistant coach, Maxwell Konadu, has stated that the current generation is results-oriented and lacks patience with managers.
The former Asante Kotoko coach made this remark while calling for patience with Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.
He asserted that the new Ghanaian football fans only praise coaches when the team is winning, but turn against them when things go wrong.
“Ghanaians adore football; when things go well, they lavish praise on you; when things go wrong, the country becomes divided, and that is how the game has sadly become,” he said, as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.
“We simply need to be patient at times with Otto Addo, but how many people can be patient? Today’s generation will not be patient with you,” Konadu added.
Ghanaians demanded Otto Addo’s dismissal after he failed to lead the Black Stars to qualify for the 2025 AFCON. Otto Addo had failed to win a single game in the qualifiers, hence the call for his dismissal.
However, the manager has seemingly turned things around with recent results in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.
He won two games, defeating Chad and Madagascar, scoring eight goals, and keeping clean sheets in both matches.
Ghana now leads its World Cup qualifying group with 15 points, with four more games remaining in the qualifiers.
