The Ghana Freedom Party’s founder and leader, Akua Donkor, died on October 28, 2024, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, Ghana. Mary, her youngest daughter, was present when she passed away. Mary revealed in a tearful interview with GhanaWeb that her mother’s health deteriorated following their trip to Nsawam. She was subsequently taken to Ridge Hospital, where she died at around ten o’clock at night.

“I was with her,” said Mary, the youngest and third child of Akua Donkor, who spoke of her mother’s last hours. After our visit to Nsawam, we were sent to the Ridge Hospital. Around ten o’clock at night, we were there, and I was standing next to her. The family is presently expecting additional guidance from the head of the family, who will confer with the physician to furnish more comprehensive details regarding Akua Donkor’s demise.

Akua Donkor’s niece, Adwoa, also told GhanaWeb that the family is awaiting the arrival of family members from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region so they can talk about what to do next. Adwoa claims that the body of Akua Donkor is still in the hospital.
