Founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei, widely known as Prophet Kumchacha, has described the concept of weddings as non-biblical.

According to him, wedding ceremonies are a creation of the ‘white man’ and are not practiced by biblical figures.

Speaking in an interview with UTV, Kumchacha cited the traditional practice in the Bible as more ideal.

“Wedding is not in the Bible; it is something created by the white man. If you check the Bible, when a man wants to marry a woman, he goes to see the woman’s family; if her family agrees, then they go their way. The marriage is sealed. The Bible didn’t say anything about white weddings and all that,” he stated.

Kumchacha, however, stated that although he sees nothing wrong with people spending on weddings, he doesn’t see the need in securing loans to organise weddings.

“As for weddings, it’s between two people; if you have money and you see a lady you want to marry, I have no problem with that.

“Where I have problems is where people would go and borrow money to conduct weddings. I know of a man who took a loan from the bank for a wedding. It got to a time when the bank started chasing him for a loan; his business had collapsed and he was in trouble. It doesn’t make sense,” he said.
