The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the immediate departure of Otto Addo as head coach of the senior men’s national team, the Black Stars, in a major shake-up just two months ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the GFA confirmed that it has parted ways with the 49-year-old tactician, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure at a critical time for Ghanaian football. The decision comes as the team intensifies preparations for the global showpiece, raising fresh questions about the squad’s technical direction and readiness.

The Association expressed appreciation for Addo’s contribution during his time in charge, acknowledging his efforts in guiding the team through key international assignments. “The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” the statement read.

With the World Cup fast approaching, the GFA has assured the public that plans are underway to outline a new technical direction for the Black Stars. An announcement regarding Addo’s successor is expected in the coming days as Ghana seeks stability ahead of the tournament.
