Popular MC/hypeman and radio host Kojo Manuel has opened up about his experience hosting the first-ever DJ/hypeman session at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

The groundbreaking performance, which took place on May 10, 2025, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, saw Kojo Manuel team up with award-winning DJ Vyrusky to deliver an electrifying set.

Their performance was further spiced with appearances from Beeztrap KOTM, Kojo Blakk, and Moliy.

People expect you to be ‘rough’ because of the work you do – Kojo Manuel

Speaking on GhanaWeb’s Talkertainment with Elsie Lamar, Kojo Manuel revealed that he had personally pushed for the introduction of the DJ/hypeman set and was grateful that members of the TGMA team also supported the idea.

“I was actually pushing for this to happen. Luckily for me, there were people part of the CharterHouse/TGMA team who were also pushing for that.

“That was the first time there was a DJ/hypeman session at the Ghana Music Awards ever. And I was the one on stage. So it was a very big moment for me; that was the first time I was in a suit. Many people could not recognise me,” he said.

He further stated that the experience has solidified his position in the annals of Ghanaian entertainment history.

“Sometimes don’t blow your trumpet; it will blow itself. I’ve set a record; don’t later say I haven’t achieved anything. If for nothing else, the first-ever DJ/hypeman session; I was there,” he said.
