Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko got married in 2019

In the midst of conversations surrounding Regina Daniels’ marriage to Nigerian politician and businessman Ned Nwoko, the actress has refuted claims that she married him out of greed or for financial gain.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on November 5, 2025, the actress talked about the circumstances that led to her marriage, insisting that her decision was driven by love and not material motives.

She disclosed that even her mother, veteran actress Rita Daniels, opposed her plans to marry the politician at the time.

Regina Daniels’ mother accuses Ned Nwoko of using daughter to revive his declining image

“I’m so ashamed to say I fell in love, but I actually really did. And it’s crazy, but I did. Everyone said no; my mom, ah, come on now. And you all stop saying I got married out of greed. Excuse me, no, we were not broke. Does that make sense?” Regina said.

The actress went on to say that her decision to go ahead with the marriage caused tensions within her family.

She said her mother and siblings warned her against it, but she was determined to follow her heart.

She recalled leaving home one night with the intention of taking her life if she was not allowed to marry Ned Nwoko.

“Stop insulting my mother. She is the best woman on earth. She warned me. My brothers warned me. Everybody warned me. Nobody’s going to cry on this camera. Everybody warned me, and then I drove out at night. I was going to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned,” she recounted.

Regina also stated that the situation escalated to the point where she went to the police station, asking officers to arrest her because her family refused to support her relationship.

She said despite the chaos, her love for Ned Nwoko was genuine.

“Everyone was looking for me. My brothers were fighting, breaking bottles. I went to the police station and said, ‘Arrest me. My family does not want me to marry the love of my life.’ But I actually did fall in love. It’s crazy, but I did. And I still care and respect him. That’s love,” she said.
