Ghanaian media personality and entertainment pundit MC Portfolio has lauded Stonebwoy‘s impact on the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
He has asserted that the Afro-Dancehall star is driving the scheme’s relevance and international recognition, especially among the youth.
In a Facebook post on May 15, 2025, days after the 2025 TGMAs, MC Portfolio praised Stonebwoy‘s artistry and consistency, stating, “Stonebwoy makes ‘Excellence’ look so normal that it doesn’t even make him feel special anymore when you compliment him with it.”
He further stated that while “nobody is bigger than TGMAs,” Stonebwoy remains the reason the awards continue to captivate newer generations and attract global attention.
“They say nobody is bigger than the TGMAs, but he remains the reason the scheme keeps getting attractive for the new generation and bags us global ratings! At this point, let him organise a masterclass on artistry and craft and let our artistes all pick one or two from his expertise,” he added.
MC Portfolio’s admiration for Stonebwoy isn’t new. Ahead of the 2024 TGMAs, he was on the camp of Stonebwoy and even advocated for a special recognition category, the ‘Music Institution of the Year’ award to honor Stonebwoy‘s unparalleled contributions to Ghana’s music industry.
Stonebwoy‘s influence was evident at the 2025 TGMAs, where he was nominated for the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category, hoping to clinch it for the third time but lost to King Promise.
He, however, went home with the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year awards.
His performance that night was a masterclass in showmanship, blending cultural elements with contemporary music to deliver a memorable experience.
