Entertainment pundit, Nana Poku Ashis, has joined other industry personalities who are of the view that dancehall musician Shatta Wale, stands a chance in the country’s presidential race.

In a discussion on Hitz FM shared on social media on August 23, 2025, Nana Poku Ashis noted that the dancehall musician has a loyal fanbase who wouldn’t mind voting him into power if he stands as a presidential candidate.

He explained that even if the dancehall musician doesn’t win, he stands a chance of securing a significant percentage of the total vote cast.

“Shatta Wale to me, if he stands for president, he can get some percentage. Even if he doesn’t win, that guy has some command,” he said.

Nana Poku Ashis’ comment comes in relation to the ongoing controversies surrounding Shatta Wale and the ongoing investigation into his 2019 Lamborghini Urus by the EOCO.

On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Shatta Wale was detained after voluntarily appearing at the EOCO headquarters in Accra with his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo.

The inquiry centres on allegations of irregularities surrounding the luxury vehicle, which was earlier seized by authorities on suspicion of being connected to a wider financial scandal in the United States.
