Ghanaian reggae/dancehall musician, Stonebwoy, has expressed dissatisfaction with a comment made by the artiste manager for R2bees, Ike Otoo Arhin, popularly known as Gomski, for stating that dancehall music has been the problem affecting the Ghana music industry.
In a discussion on the Big Conversation on November 16, 2024, Stonebwoy noted that the statement from Gomski is irresponsible and therefore, he should publicly render an apology to dancehall musicians in the country.
“That is an irresponsible talk from him (Gomski) Mugeez is his artiste, and we all know how big and well respected he is in the Ghana music industry. So, that statement from Gomski, I think if he retreats his words, it would do well for us as an industry.
“I just came back from Ivory Coast, I went to perform over there, and any stage you will see me on, I try to put Ghana on the map, and I put my heart into it… So, dancehall is the best thing that could have happened to the Ghana music,” he said.
Stonebwoy added that he would not allow anyone to tarnish the dancehall genre since he has invested his efforts and resources into it.
“This is the music of Black origin. I studied this in school and I have invested money into my craft, so, I would not allow someone who has not invested a penny to talk foul about the dancehall music. I have hit songs in the Afrobeat. In fact, the most collaboration from the dancehall genre,” he added.
