Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Ogum, has advocated for a tactical pattern against Hearts of Oak when the two meet on Sunday, December 15, 2024, for the Ghana Premier League’s first Super Clash of the 2024/25 season.

The Porcupine Warriors will return to their traditional home after adopting the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium at the start of the 2024/25 season. A win against rivals Hearts of Oak would be the perfect way to mark their return.

Ogum, who has been under severe pressure this season, has emphasized the importance of a dynamic approach against the 2021 GPL champions. In a pre-match press conference, the 2022 GPL winner highlighted the need for adaptability.

“We need to have different approaches to the game, and if you’ve observed my team play, most of the time, we don’t go the same way throughout the game.

We keep changing the approach in the course of the game based on how the opponents approach the game during certain segments, minutes, or moments. So, what I can tell you is that as and when the dynamics of the game change from that of the opponents, we’d also try to adjust accordingly,” he said.

Asante Kotoko will be chasing a third consecutive win against Hearts of Oak, who will also be looking for their first win against the Porcupine Warriors since March 2023.

With both teams separated by just one point—Hearts of Oak in sixth with nineteen points and Asante Kotoko in seventh with eighteen points—this encounter will surely be the highlight of Match Day 13 in the GPL.
