Ghanaian artiste Sam Sarfo Junior, well-known as Showboy, has been picked up by the Ghana Police Service following the circulation of a widely shared video linked to his arrest.
The video, which went viral across social media, shows the artiste in handcuffs locked in a heated verbal exchange with several officers. Throughout the confrontation, he appeared shaken and repeatedly voiced his displeasure, saying, “This is so… wrong.”
Sounds captured in the video suggest the arrest followed directives from the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters. During the exchange, a female officer who identified herself as an Assistant Superintendent of Police was heard addressing him as officers tried to maintain order.
At one point, Showboy asked officers for water and requested to reach his doctor. He explained that he was receiving psychiatric treatment and stressed the need to speak with his psychiatrist. Officers remained composed as they attempted to calm the situation.

The arrest is believed to be connected to an earlier incident at the musician’s residence. On that occasion, individuals thought to be CID operatives attempted to detain him while he streamed live on TikTok. The recording from that encounter quickly spread across social media.
During that earlier confrontation, Showboy appeared visibly distressed and challenged the officers, arguing that they had not shown any legal documentation authorising his arrest. He refused to accompany them and insisted to both the officers and viewers watching the livestream that he could not be lawfully detained without proper authorisation.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement explaining the reason behind Showboy’s arrest.
