Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah has publicly denounced the alleged GH₵548 million embezzlement scandal at the National Service Secretariat (NSS), describing it as yet another glaring failure of political oversight under President Akufo-Addo.

In a recent Facebook post, Amponsah expressed outrage at reports that officials allegedly diverted hundreds of millions of cedis through payroll fraud, even as National Service personnel endured months without pay.

“This and many more are some of the corrupt deeds that went right under Akufo-Addo’s nose. While National Service Personnel remained unpaid, these greedy thieves were siphoning and washing Ghanaian funds like they were a cast in Ozark,” he wrote, referencing the crime-laden Netflix series.

The scandal, exposed by Ghana’s Attorney General following preliminary investigations by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) taskforce, revealed that over GH₵548 million had been misappropriated via ghost names on the NSS payroll.

OB Amponsah condemned the use of political allegiance to excuse criminal behavior, warning that unchecked corruption ultimately harms every citizen.

“We must never condone this level of thievery under the guise of political loyalty. Ebi we naaa go suffer in the end. Speak out. Ghana is for us all,” he urged.

Attorney General Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has since announced that 12 individuals, including former NSS directors and private vendors, will face charges including theft, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.

He assured the public that prosecutions would be swift and that the state will pursue full asset recovery.
