Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has reacted to the long-running narrative that he and Stonebwoy are bitter rivals. He indicated that their relationship is far removed from the hostility often portrayed by the public.
During a recent TikTok Live session, the ‘On God’ composer challenged the idea that the two artistes are constantly at odds. He pointed to how close they now live to each other as evidence that the rivalry narrative does not reflect reality.
“If Stonebwoy were my enemy, I wouldn’t live in the same area with him. Stonebwoy doesn’t live at Ashaiman anymore, and I don’t live in the ghetto anymore. We are just two minutes away from each other. I pass in front of his house every time I go out, every single blessed day,” he said.
Shatta Wale said it would make little sense for two people who genuinely consider themselves enemies to choose homes within such close proximity. He argued that real hostility would naturally create distance rather than bring the two musicians into the same neighbourhood.
“Don’t come and sit here and say me and Stonebwoy are rivals. Under normal circumstances, when you’re not on talking terms with someone, you don’t even want to walk past their door because you’re angry. If we were rivals, then we can’t live two minutes away from each other,” he stated.
The dancehall musician also blamed the media and public commentary for shaping a version of his relationship with Stonebwoy that, in his view, has been blown out of proportion. According to him, repeated discussions about their supposed feud have influenced fans to interpret their actions through the lens of rivalry.
“The media has brainwashed you too much, so when you’re talking, it’s as if you know me and Stonebwoy’s life. It is God that has blessed the two of us,” he said.

Shatta Wale further reflected on the different circumstances the two musicians experienced before rising to prominence. He noted that Stonebwoy once lived in Ashaiman, while he grew up in Lartebiokorshie Zongo, suggesting that their present circumstances are a reflection of how far both have come.
“He used to live in Ashaiman; I lived at Lartebiokorshie Zongo. I have really suffered, so if today Stonebwoy and I live in the same area, just two minutes away from each other, and you people are saying he’s my rival, no, don’t say that,” he added.
Although Shatta Wale acknowledged that he sometimes enjoys teasing Stonebwoy, he urged fans not to turn their playful exchanges into personal attacks or fuel unnecessary tension between their supporters.
“I just like teasing, but nobody should go personal. Let’s do things that will make the music healthy,” Wale further stated.
