Nintendo revealed the look of its newest console on Thursday, giving fans reason to rejoice over the forthcoming device.

New photos and video of the Nintendo Switch 2 caused a frenzy on social media, leaving viewers salivating and convinced the product will sell like ‘hot cakes.’

‘I swear I just walked outside this morning and everything suddenly looks more beautiful. The grass is greener, the sky is more blue than it’s ever been, there’s not a cloud in the sky,’ one X user wrote.

‘It’s like the world has just adjusted for a post Nintendo Switch 2 society. I’m in paradise.’

The company has kept quiet about the console’s features but confirmed it would play physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, adding that certain ones ‘may not be supported on or fully compatible’ with the Switch 2.

There have been rumors that the Switch 2 features a new screen size, design, and USB-C port, according to TechCrunch.

The company confirmed in its previews and press release that the Switch 2 will be released on April 2.

The preview also featured clips from what looks to be a new Mario Kart game.

‘I feel so bad for the kids who got a Nintendo Switch on Christmas,’ another joked.

‘I no longer have to see the phrase “Nintendo Switch 2 LEAK” the curse of the last 5 years is broken,’ a third added.

Others lauded the announcement as a ‘a gift.’

Social media users were thrilled to learn about the Switch 2 release date

Several people critical of the unveiling claimed the Switch 2 was ‘too similar’ to its predecessor and lacked ‘innovation.’

‘Literally anyone aware of the Switch 2 knew it was gonna be the same but upgraded and with new quality of life changes,’ one wrote

‘Nintendo wasn’t gonna change something dramatically that worked extremely well for them. The hybrid play style was always here to stay.’

Another added: ‘I found the design pretty similar and nothing special tbh

‘But nice, hope it has great games.’

A third said: ‘The Switch 2 design is very safe. I like it but I wish Nintendo did more to separate itself from the first Switch.’

Others were disappointed with the console’s name and mentioned what they thought would’ve been better selections.

‘Should have called it something more similar to “Super Nintendo Switch”, instant hook,’ one wrote.

‘I’m gonna straight up say it: I’m sorry @NintendoAmerica. But calling it the “Switch 2” is a bad naming convention.’
