The Ndede Limited Company, a Ghanaian-owned business operating in the Central Region, yesterday presented 150 pairs of Wellington boots to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in support of the upcoming 2025 National Farmers’ Day celebration.

The gesture, part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, is aimed at equipping farmers with appropriate footwear to support their daily activities. The boots, manufactured locally, also mark the company’s first major production since transitioning from decades of importing safety materials into local manufacturing.

Presenting the items, the Manager of Ndede Limited, Mrs Nana Ehoa Acquaye, described the donation as a token of appreciation for farmers’ resilience and contributions to national development.

“Farmers are among the most essential people in our economy because they provide food, which is vital for all of us. It is very important that private sector players support them, especially in terms of safety and other needs,” she said.

Receiving the items, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Eric Opoku, commended the company for being the first to donate towards this year’s celebration.

He disclosed that preparations were ongoing, with technical teams working to identify deserving awardees.

Mr Opoku assured the public that this year’s awards process would be transparent, fair, and devoid of partisanship, adding that all awards would be presented promptly at the ceremony to avoid previous delays.

He also called on other private companies to emulate Ndede Limited’s example, stressing that agricultural development required collective effort.

In a related development, the Amen Amen Institute donated GH¢10,000 to MoFA to support activities for the 2025 World Food Day celebration.

World Food Day, marked annually on October 16, provides a global platform to highlight progress and collective action in building sustainable food systems. The 2025 global theme is: “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.”

Making the presentation on behalf of the Founder and Leader of the Institute, Mr Daniel Reynolds reaffirmed the institute’s long-standing commitment to promoting food security initiatives.

“We encourage especially the youth, who can help MoFA to promote food security for the nation, to go into very serious farming,” he said.

The National Coordinator of the Feed Ghana Programme, Mr Bright Demordzi, who received the donation on behalf of MoFA, expressed gratitude, describing the support as timely.

He noted that it complements government’s flagship Food Ghana Programme, which aims at strengthening food security nationwide.
