The year 2025 will be remembered as a big year for weddings in Ghana’s entertainment and public spheres.
From glamorous white weddings to vibrant traditional ceremonies, some African celebrities, socialites, and high-profile personalities made the headlines with their love stories.
With carefully curated outfits, elegant venues, and A-list guest lists, these weddings have not only celebrated unions but also highlighted the evolution of Ghana’s wedding culture.
Here are some of the biggest weddings that made headlines, particularly in Ghana and Nigeria in 2025.
1. Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola’s cross-continent wedding
The most extravagant and widely discussed wedding of the year was that of Nigerian Afrobeats star Mr Eazi (Oluwatosin Ajibade) and actress/fashion entrepreneur Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola. The couple held a three-part wedding celebration across Monaco, Dubai and Iceland, making theirs one of the most lavish and culturally rich weddings of 2025.
Their journey began on May 9, 2025, with a civil ceremony in Monaco, chosen to honour Mr Eazi’s late mother’s birthday. The intimate legal event at Villa La Vigie featured bespoke fashion, including a custom suit from Wiederhoeft for Temi and Louis Vuitton for Eazi.
In July, the celebrations moved to Dubai for a vibrant Yoruba traditional wedding at the Otedola family home. Temi stunned in multiple couture outfits by designers like Zac Posen, Lisa Folawiyo and Oscar de la Renta, while Mr Eazi showcased traditional flair infused with contemporary fashion. King Sunny Ade and other music icons helped set the celebratory tone.
The final leg came on August 8 with a breathtaking white wedding in Iceland, held at Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavik with panoramic views and a glass tent reception.
Global R&B star John Legend performed at the reception, and the event included a beach party under the Northern Lights, making it a cinematic finale to their multi-country celebration.
