A Twitch streamer who filmed himself waving a toy gun outside Big Ben has been slammed for his ‘idiotic’ stunt after being arrested.
Police swooped in on the group of 11 men outside the London landmark on Saturday night after concerned members of the public reported men with a fireman.
Footage posted by ‘Krimoe’, who has more than 100,000 social media followers, shows the group parked up on a central reservation with Big Ben in the background.
While imitating a rapper from Atlanta, Krimoe pulls out what looks like a pistol, pointing it at the camera and pretending to fire it.
He shouts ‘bang, bang, bang’ and ‘shoot the ops’ with the black replica in his hand.
The imitation gun is passed between the group in full view of the cars moving past them on either side.
Minutes later, multiple police cars arrive on the scene and surround the group, who put their hands up before being led away by officers.
Krimoe posted a video online of him and a group waving a fake gun in front of Parliament
Officers arrived on the scene minutes later and arrested the group
Police confirmed 11 men had been arrested and released on bail
Furious police shouted: ‘Has someone got a gun? There’s no f**** about is there’ at the stunned group.
The Metropolitan Police told the Mail: ‘Police were called at 22:50hrs on Saturday, 3 January close to Westminster Bridge following reports of a group of men carrying a firearm.
‘Officers attended quickly and arrested 11 men on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.
‘They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.’
It is understood that the imitation firearm was seized at the scene.
Krimoe, who has around 50,000 followers on Twitch and 80,000 on Instagram, posted a video of the episode to YouTube on Monday titled: ‘I Became A YN & Got Arrested!’
A warning at the start reads: ‘This video features fake, non-functional prop guns only. No real firearms, ammunition or dangerous weapons were used.
‘This content is for entertainment purposes only.’
Krimoe was interviewed BBC Radio 1Xtra in November about his streaming career
He has posted photos online posing with other fake guns in the past
Comments on social media included: ‘What an absolute idiot,’ while another asked: ‘What on earth did he expect?’
Krimoe was interviewed on BBC Radio 1Xtra in November about his streaming career.
He recalled befriending well-known rapper Young Adz on a video game, before convincing him to join him in his bedroom for a live stream.
He also suggested he was looking for ways to generate more money with his videos, telling the presenter: ‘I got the money but I ain’t got the followers. Where’s the money coming from?’
The area around the Houses of Parliament is secured with 24/7 patrols by uniformed and non-uniformed officers and extensive CCTV.
