A hotel owner has divided opinion after throwing water on a drunk man after she found him sleeping outside.

Lisa Bell did not take kindly to the boozed up bloke who had decided to take a nap in her hotel’s front garden.

The 46-year-old had tried and failed to wake the intruder at the Regency Hotel in Blackpool – forcing her to resort to tougher tactics.

Lisa decided to fill a bucket with ice cold water in the hopes of shocking the man out of his alcohol-induced nap in the middle of a Sunday afternoon.

Footage of the incident was caught on the hotel’s CCTV, with the dozing drunk seen sprawled on a chair outside.

Lisa then casually walks into the garden and drenches the man, who appears seemingly unphased by the sudden soaking.

He simply lifts his head and looks around in bewilderment, before Lisa convinced him to leave the premises..

Lisa later defended her actions, explaining she was expecting guests that had young children and didn’t want the hotel to give off a bad impression.

Lisa said: ‘He was extremely drunk and I couldn’t wake him up.

‘I had a family with young children who were due to arrive any minute. It wouldn’t be a great first impression, seeing him outside.

‘He took it well and it worked.’

But members of the public were split on her actions, with one person saying she should ‘let the man sleep.’

Another claimed: ‘That’s assault by the way, regardless if you think it’s just water or not.’

A third critic added: ‘We had a homeless man sleep on our street one cold evening. I took him a coffee and something to eat.’

However, others saw the funny side, saying they ‘loved’ Lisa’s quick thinking.

Another person added: ‘This is brilliant.’
