Dutch international of Ghanaian descent, Memphis Depay, has revealed plans to organize a friendly game between his club, Corinthians, and Asante Kotoko.
Depay is currently in Ghana for the Christmas holidays and is expected to embark on various activities, including charity work.
The former Manchester United and Barcelona star was present at Kotoko’s training grounds on Thursday morning as the team prepared for their match against Bibiani Goldstars.
In a video shared on Asante Kotoko‘s social media handles, Depay was spotted encouraging players at Adako Jachie.
Depay then disclosed plans to organize a friendly between Kotoko and the Brazilian outfit.
“I like what I see, and I will urge you to keep going. Never give up. I respect all of you guys. I’m trying to raise something for the team to maybe play a friendly game against my team (Corinthians) in Brazil. It’s in the plans, so let’s hope we can make it happen so that you guys can showcase your talent,” he said.
Asante Kotoko will play host to Bibiani Goldstars in matchday 15 of the domestic top-flight at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday.
Asante Kotoko are currently 5th on the Ghana Premier League standings with 24 points after 13 matches, while Goldstars sit 2nd with 27 points.
